Mockingbird Nashville | Restaurant Review by Alana Robin

Last weekend I was visiting Nashville with a friend, and we went to The Mockingbird for Saturday brunch. It was absolutely amazing and had some great southern-inspired dishes. I love being able to have brunch food that I couldn't necessarily get at home, because it is SO rare to find! Bring on the gravy!

Reasons to Love

  • They have stunning, modern decor that has all the Gatsby vibes

  • The cinnamon rolls are AMAZING

  • You can book brunch on OpenTable (aka no long wait!)

  • The menu is super punny (which is dough much fun!)

What I Ordered

Dat Bun Dough! Cinnamon rolls

My friend and I split the cinnamon roll to start and OH MAMA! It was absolutely delicious. One thing that surprised me was that it wasn't as dough-y as your typical cinnamon roll. It was almost crispy in spots and wasn't drenched in frosting. I loved the balance of sugary sweet to dough-y goodness and would highly recommend getting this to share!

Be warned - you will likely have some left over to enjoy later!

Tots a Lot! Tater tots, gravy, bacon, fried egg, tachos style

Another great dish, was the nacho style tater tot brunch. This consisted of a bed of tater tots and bacon topped with a fried egg and gravy. The gravy was oh-so-good and unlike what I can get in New York City.

We ordered ours with the gravy on the side, which was a great move! That way we could balance them the way we wanted and kept the tots from getting soggy.

The Atmosphere

SO MANY GATSBY VIBES! I absolutely loved the modern decor with its slightly elegant, but still casual, vibes. It is a great spot for a trendy, nicer brunch.

What to Wear

You can wear anything you want from jeans and sneakers to a cute dress. I went with a pair of black, loose pants and a red sweater for a casual look.

Who I'd Recommend Going With

A group of friends! They had tons of larger tables and comfy booths, making this the perfect spot for a group of friends to catch up.

It was also a great spot for two!

XOXO,
