Misi Restaurant Review | By Alana Robin

If you live in New York, chances are you have heard of Misi & Lilia. Both are the creation of Missy Robbins and probably serve the BEST pastas outside of Italy. Today I will be breaking down all the aspects of Misi. From what to order, who to go with, and what to wear, this post has you covered!

Reasons to Love

  • The pastas are so fresh you feel like you're sitting in Italy.

  • The open kitchen makes for dinner & a show.

  • The Bellini Fizz cocktail was insanely good and made for a well rounded meal ;)

The Details

Find the restaurant at…

329 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, New York 11249

What I Ordered

My friend and I ordered a couple things to share, which I would highly recommend doing so that you can try more of the menu.

Cocktail

Bellini Fizz - peach, aperol, lemon, egg white, nino franco rustico prosecco

The bellini fizz was fresh and fun! I loved the hint of aperol with the fruity flavors of peach. The lemon cut through the egg white, keeping it light and refreshing! It was the perfect drink to start off the meal, and I may have finished it before the appetizer even arrived...

Appetizer

Charred marinated peppers, marjoram, whipped ricotta crostini

YUM. I think every table around us ordered this appetizer, and you have to too! It was a deliciously lux ricotta toasts with shishito peppers on the side. They are best enjoyed by putting the peppers on top of the toast, which was so unique and amazing. I am planning to try to mimic this dish out at home, so will be sure to do a post on that if it comes out well!

Entrees

Mezze rigatoni, 30 clove pomodoro, basil

The rigatoni seemed like a traditional choice with a simple red sauce, but it did not disappoint. I often find ordering one of the more traditional items is the best way to measure the quality of a restaurant. This sauce was sweet and salty with a unique flavors that you certainly don't find in a canned red sauce. I also loved the cheese & basil. My mom used to grow basil in our windowsill growing up, and this tasted just as fresh as though it was picked moments before.

Tortelli, brown butter, ricotta salata

A stuffed pasta is always a favorite of mine, and this one did not disappoint. The filling was light and fresh, which was a surprise. I often find stuffed pastas heavy, but this was so smooth and delightful. I could've had multiple plates... would highly recommend getting this pasta when you go!

Dessert

Gelato - Mint Stracciatella

OMG. This gelato was so good. Quite possibly the best I have had in New York City and as good as many I have had in Italy. I loved the flavor we tried and look forward to

The Atmosphere

The atmosphere is fun and lively, with an open kitchen. Much of the seating is bar style with a view right into the kitchen. It has the trendy vibes I have come to love and expect in New York City. It was high-end, but not stuffy.

What to Wear

I would recommend slightly elevated attire. I think you can wear anything, but might feel out of place in casual jeans or sneakers. I came right from work, so was in skinny black dress pants, a cute top, and light blazer.

Who I'd Recommend Going With

You need to get a reservation one-month ahead - reservations open on Resy at Midnight one-month out - so I would recommend going with a friend or significant other. Getting a reservation for 2 will definitely be easier, but you could also try for 4. It is not a great spot for groups larger than that.

XOXO,

Alana Robin
